Rev. David Larry Joyner, 78, of Rockingham, completed his earthly journey and began a new life in his heavenly home on Sunday, July 3, 2022.
Rev. Joyner was born May 29, 1944 in Richmond County, a son of the late Samuel Marshall and Sadie Ray Edwards Joyner. He served in the North Carolina Army National Guard for 6 years, and retired from Richmond Specialty Yarns. He was ordained as a minister and evangelist in the Free Will Baptist faith in 1985 and for 47 years has helped spread the Gospel of his Lord, Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Kay Joyner and granddaughter, Elizabeth Hope Kennedy.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Kay Sewell Joyner; daughters, Tammy Joyner (Keary Henkle) of Rockingham, Samantha Stacey (Jeff) of Hertford and Dana Kennedy (Nathan) of New Market, Alabama; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren, with two additional due very soon; brother, Sammy Joyner (Shirley); sister, Shirley Adcock and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, July 8, 2022 at Shining Light Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Tug Gainey officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
