Nestled amid 100 year old oak trees the Colonial Chapel was once the stately Hamer residence. In 1958 Eldridge and Mary Carter purchased the home for use as their newly purchased funeral home and their residence. The chapel addition was completed in 1965 and a large parlor was added in 1985. In 1999 the entire facility underwent an extensive remodeling project. We can easily accommodate 3 visitations simultaneously with ample room inside the facility as well as ample parking. Our chapel seats 150 and we can accommodate larger crowds using the parlors for additional seating.
Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel was constructed in 1973 as a Spanish style building to better serve the families of Ellerbe and northern Richmond County. In 2003 the facility underwent a major remodeling changing the inner and outer appearance of the facility. A 12 foot hall was added to the front and side of the facility to better aid with traffic flow during visitations, along with larger restroom facilities. Two visitations or a visitation and a service may be held simultaneously.
